New families kindergarten registration
Step 1
If your household does not have an existing student attending a Red Hook Central School District school, you begin the process of registering a new student for kindergarten at this link.
There, you will be asked to input your household information, including address and contact information. This registers your household with the district's "Parent Portal."
Step 2
You will receive an email from sender "admin-us@operoo.com" and a subject line "Red Hook Central School District - Operoo Account Created"
Operoo is the district's system for uploading digital documents. The email will include a username and password to be used at operoo.com.
Step 3
Upload necessary student and household documents and information to Operoo to complete registration.
Hard copies of registration packets are available upon request if you cannot access a computer. Call Carla Merino at 845-758-2241 ext. 45090.
Step 4
After all documents are uploaded you will receive a call to set up an in-person screening appointment at Mill Road Elementary School. The screenings will be scheduled during April 2 and 3, 2025.
What to expect at the screening?
First and foremost, the screening is an opportunity for Mill Road staff to provide a warm welcome to incoming students and their families. The entire process will take between an hour to 90 minutes, at the end of which families should leave without any questions regarding how their student's kindergarten experience will begin.
Students will meet with a teacher, speech language therapist and an occupational or physical therapy provider. Students will be checked for basic kindergarten readiness in the following areas:
- Self-care
- Language
- Cognitive skills
- Fine and gross motor skills
Students will also meet our school nurse, who will conduct a hearing and vision screening.
Meanwhile, parents and guardians will meet with school administrators and our administration team to review important information. It's also an opportunity for parents to ask any questions they may have.
